Retail & Consumer Food Waste Solutions:
Netherlands Top Sector Agri Food Research
Vivia Foundation has participated in a Netherlands Top Sector research consortium focused on the “Reduction of Food Waste” through improved consumer packaging solutions, specifically applied to flexible and semi-flexible packaging.
The project was directed by Wageningen UR in the Netherlands and involves food industry partners, foundations and other organizations over three years. Similar research has been conducted with industry partners at the University of Lund in Sweden.
As the need for food security and specialty convenience foods grows, so will the need to save food, reduce food waste and develop ways to extend food shelf-life. For this reason, flexible packaging, semi-flexible packaging and specialty film technologies will be increasingly critical factors in meeting these needs.
